Eaton Unveils New Production Plant in Busag, Romania
As part of its growth strategy for the EMEA region, Eaton has opened a new production facility in Busag in the Tautii-Magheraus region of Romania. The Busag facility is the second plant Eaton has established in the north of the country where close to 1,900 employees are now located. The new plant will make Eaton Electro Productie the biggest manufacturing company in the region.

Today, representatives from Eaton’s Electrical Sector EMEA as well as local government officials joined to celebrate the news at an official opening ceremony. "This has been a very important project for us, supporting our EMEA growth strategy especially in emerging markets. We have a historically strong position in Romania and are very pleased with our current facility in Sarbi, making it an easy decision to build another factory in the region. The new plant will help us to realize our growth opportunities in the whole EMEA region,” said Frank Campbell, President of Eaton’s Electrical EMEA Business during the ceremony.

Full production at the state-of-the-art, 4,000 square meter factory recently commenced following its completion four months ago. The new plant is an example of Eaton’s global initiative to provide ‘best in class’, high-quality products and efficient production to meet its customers’ current needs.

Reflecting on a ten year history of partnership and investment in Romania, Pamela Pop, plant manager and managing director of Eaton Electro Productie in Romania, said: “With this new facility, we have reached an important milestone for Eaton’s growth strategy in the country. We are now in an excellent position to meet increasing customer demands for our quality products. We appreciate the support of the Busag authorities as we continue to expand our business in Romania and are committed to the local community.”

The new facility has been designed to manufacture high-quality components and enclosures for a variety of Eaton’s electrical products in the European market place. Among them is the xEnergy switchboard system for power distribution of up to 5,000 A, which offers a modular and flexible design and can be delivered in flat-pack format, or as a pre-assembled cabinet. Key production processes in the plant include powder coating, punching, bending and welding of sheet metal as well as product assembly. Besides significant investment in the factory and equipment, Eaton has demonstrated its commitment to the community by investing in its employees. The Busag plant created close to 130 new jobs and the number of employees is expected to grow to about 140 by the end of 2012.
