NEW RANGE OF CERAMIC INSULATION HAS A BRIGHT FUTURE IN THE SOLAR INDUSTRY

Morgan Thermal Ceramics has launched a new range of ceramic insulation products, specifically designed to meet the needs of the solar power sector.

NEW RANGE OF CERAMIC INSULATION HAS A BRIGHT FUTURE IN THE SOLAR INDUSTRY
Building on the company’s globally successful Superwool® brand, the new range includes three bespoke insulation products, which have been engineered to maximise performance in solar applications. They have exceptional whiteness and rigidity making them the ideal choice for insulating a variety of solar equipment, including the reflectors used in solar collection towers. The new insulation range is available in board and shape formats.

Using standard Superwool® and Sol-Gel fibre based materials as a base; an innovative treatment is applied to optimise the products for use in solar applications. Tests have shown that this treatment gives on average 30% greater density compared with standard insulation materials.

The range comprises Sol-Gel fibre based material with solar treatment, which offers a superior 89% energy reflection and 89% light reflection rating, combined with the ability to withstand very high levels of concentrated sunlight. Superwool® HT VF with solar treatment (85% energy reflection, 82% light reflection) and Superwool® PLUS VF with solar treatment (70% energy reflection, 69% light reflection).

Carole Dumenil, business manager of Morgan Thermal Ceramics’ Lillebonne plant, said: “Using our extensive experience of working in this fast growing market sector, our new solar product range demonstrates our commitment to using application engineering support to deliver innovative solutions for our customers.

“The strength of Morgan Thermal Ceramics is in our people, our products and our technical edge, and we are confident that additions to our portfolio, such as the new solar range, will ensure customers keep coming back to us for all their advanced ceramic insulation solutions.”
